Top 10 Things New Authors Need To Know To Be Successful

Princess of Literature Jana Pauldo gives you ten things all new authors should know to be successful and accomplish your goals in the industry from her experience

10.)  Don’t get caught up in cliques and the book groups online.

·
Your gift is on the inside and getting caught up in advice and not researching
information yourself will not help you. The internet is your best friend as an
author so use it to your best ability. Asking others and cliquing up with author
friends will not help you. This is a competitive business so learning on your
own is in your best interest.

9.)  After you finish your book, the hardest part has just begun. Writing the book
was easy.

 ·
Have your shoulders back and a smile on your face because you finished your book.
That’s great! However, remember you need to do the next step. Do three drafts of
your book meaning edit your book to the best of your ability. Start outlining a
marketing plan for your book because your publisher will ask you all this. Write
your query letter and figure out the market you’re trying to target.

8.) Be your own publicist and invest in one.  ·
Have  faith in yourself that you can do it and you will sell your books. Make sure you
know what kind of image you want to be in the public eye. Observe other
successful authors or celebrities to figure out how you want to be out there.
This is your product so be creative with this desire that was put into you!
Selling books on just kindle doesn’t count.

7.)  Don’t take criticism the wrong way from your publisher.
Don’t create thick fog that could prevent you from seeing what your next steps or the
best route might be. They are there to guide you and help you and you have to be
willing to learn. Publishers see what authors can bring to the table and you
don’t want to be so stubborn you miss out on opportunities ahead. Everyone isn’t
out for you sometimes they may see something in you and want to push you to that
level of perfection.

 6.)  Network on and offline.
You have a voice so use it! The world wouldn’t be as bright as it could be if you
don’t release the full glow of your gifts. Don’t make the mistake of comparing
yourself with other authors. Use your voice that’s why it was given to you! Talk
to yourself every day in the mirror if you are shy because selling books you
can’t be quiet or you won’t make any money or build a readership. Talk to people
and get to know them so they will know you.

5.)  Realize your purpose isn’t about you. What is your motivation???? Motives
matter.

Early  in my career, I was focused on how awesome it would be to achieve my
goals-publishing books, making movies, and doing media interviews, speaking to
particular audiences, and making money. I learnt at a pivotal point in my life
that all my passions were placed within me and weren’t for me to become
successful but make a difference in others’ lives through my success.  Your success is not measured by
accolades and impressive achievements. True success involves learning, growing,
and being a vessel through which others are blessed by your unique gifts,
  talents, and experiences.

4.) Your attitude determines your altitude.  ·
Watch what happens when you develop a positive attitude and not doing things just for
self. Use your words wisely and don’t hinder yourself from doors that can open
for you.  Be willing to learn.

3.) Remain professional no matter what.  ·
If you’re signed to an independent publisher, listen to them because they are the
ones who will prepare you for big time. Always remain professional in the lines
of communication. Sometimes you have to do things you don’t like but it will
help you in the long run.

2.) Have at least $2000 saved.
·
Being an author isn’t easy and if you’re looking to make this a career, I suggest you
save your money or even take out a loan or get a credit card. You can’t submit a
book and then think the publisher will do everything because it’s your product.
You have to remember that you need to travel, take professional pictures, and
etc. The publisher wants to know what your bringing to the table and money is
one of those things you need.

1.) Last but not least: Enjoy yourself! Have fun.
After all you finally finished that book right? Be motivated. Interact with readers and meet new people. Be patient because this industry is cut throat and you have to be tough but after everything enjoy doing what you love.

Hey Blog Readers! Today on my blog I am talking about being wrote off.

Sometimes when your not up to people standards they write you off and call you negative but don’t get discouraged just laugh because it was actually a victory. People may call you negative because of situations you were in and make fun of you. That was just a storm. How you respond to the storm is the other question.

People have called me crazy, tried to make their negative words about me their reality, I’ve been called slow and retarded, and all kinds of hurtful things and even told I am very ugly but those words don’t define me; Maybe them but not me. I did get discourage when told I wouldn’t rise higher but now things have shifted and a flood of God’s goodness is on it’s way in my life and I have his favor.

“My promotions and my true friends are in front me. God is releasing promises in my life that have been delayed and I have new doors opened for me with opportunity.”

I realize that I always thought I had friends but the whole time I didn’t. The only friend I ever had was God. All the friends I’ve ever had talked about and betrayed me in the end.

“Not everyone will love you the same way you love them.”

I realize that I was a very unique individual. Why? Because most of those females were playing negative roles in my life Instead of saying anything positive or being a “friend” they wrote me off. Even though I was going through a test God knew those so-called friends weren’t meant to be in my life. I complained and was down about it but I PASSED THAT TEST AND WAS NOT DEFEATED.

“Even if your family wrote you off, it doesn’t matter. I’ve had that happen to me as well but it’s not about that. God has the last say so.”

Friends can sometimes be enemies in disguised and you can also use your enemies to your advantage because that’s victory over conflict. Don’t feel bad when you find yourself realizing that people weren’t by your side like they said they would.

Most of those females have babies out of wedlock, no college education, or letting older men use them I suppose. I have PLENTY of people watching me. Why? Because when readers open my book they wont be able to close them, when people see me they are going to see an intelligent and beautiful young lady who made it through all the storms and I’ll be able to see God through my true friends.

It’s easy to talk about the problem but it’s also better to learn from those lessons if a friend did you wrong. All is well because God is my friend .

In other words when it’s time for me to have true friends then God will send them because in my darkest hours God was my only friend.

“When you get in agreement with God all things are possible.”

Hey Readers,

“With royalty, you have power. Being a boss is just a label. I want that supreme status. A mark that can’t be erased."

Today on my blog I am talking about reigning in supreme and being royalty status.

To many people in the 21st Century today take the title of “boss” which doesn’t even require a college education. To be honest, all you need is like an estimate of $200 to get a business licenses so [anyone] can do that. However, everyone doesn’t live out their royal purpose and become supreme like they are meant to.

“I rather reign in royalty then be a boss any day.”

Some bosses have their own business license, run their own business but their attitude suck. They are FAR from organized and that’s VERY important if you [claiming]  a seat that has so many responsibilities.

Another thing about the status of a boss is don’t make suggestions to someone or state your opinion if your so-called boss status can’t do anything about it. Because I’ve honestly never heard of a broke boss. Everyone is entitled to their opinion true enough but as a boss you shouldn’t forget where you came from. Whether dealing with their image or anything your attitude determines your altitude and if I had my own business I don’t just want to be paying taxe. I have an elite and large amount of class so I want my business to be apart of stocks and international. I don’t want to have a business for example that was established in 2007 and repeating history and that could have a lot to do with attitude. You don’t want to be surviving off your boss status you want to thrive if a boss is what you chose to be. To many people settle for [mediocrity].

Some people like myself have no true interest in being a boss but I am good at observing the ethics and professionalism of some bosses and you don’t want to be the type of boss that people use to get to where they trying to be. However, sometimes you do have to fake it til you make it. When you don’t do things right, things start falling apart. It’s one thing to be in a high chair helping others but if people you have helped don’t give you any kind of credit after they get to where they going that you should tell you something

Also, a boss shouldn’t have to continuously remind people of their status. Their actions and work will be speak for itself.

Don’t give nobody’s opinion of you or what they think of your “image” power. It’s not about beauty. It’s about being fancy and having that confident mentality. Some people struggled with weight issues, relationships, and self-esteem so when they get to where they have some form of status they feel they can bring others down and judge them when their inside is more of a turn off then their outside which is far from perfect to. They claiming their bosses but not sporting anything such as BEBE, CHANEL, VUITTON, KENNETH COLE, OR LIZ CLARIBORN. It’s a difference between a boss and having class. And that’s why I’m saying being supreme is better then the label of a boss. If a boss has had a negative opinion about you, forget their status and opinion of you. Bosses should NEVER have to watch others close or google them especially if they have business minded things to do. But some people have their priorities out of order.

Don’t be that person who sits on a high horse and act like they cant be brought down because someone will eventually call you out on your unorganized and unprofessional mess.

I’ve always considered myself of royalty. I knew I was supposed to reign in life and Ive always held the status of Princess. I knew I was met to be a princess in something I did. So, in 2008 I started speaking it into existence that I was The Princess of Literature. That was [my] thing. God knew I had a purpose. I started declaring in 2008 I would be a legacgy and leave a mark that cant be erased. I will reign in my life because roal blood flows through my veins Reign means to have time in power and the Creator gives us this life and were suppose to reign as long as were alive. With supreme status you can reign every single day. You don’t need a title like bosses do. lol. Reigning in power means you can rise to new levels to accomplish great things. You don’t need to brand an image on the outside if you possess greatness on the inside. That’s where a lot of people get confused. If you have a supreme mentality you already have a brand. Why? Because you can walk like royalty, talk like royalty, think like royalty, dress like royalty, and most importantly smile like royalty.

For example, most people always “assume” I am quiet but I learned in the 48 Laws of Power to never show too much of yourself to others and it actually works. Because I learned that by doing that and trying to get ahead you learn others.

Remember, never settle where you at. Don’t be the person living below your privileges. You were meant to be supreme and royal. Declare and speak into existence to have power and put that energy out their every single day.

“I have the kind of mentality that makes a basic person bitter.”

From Joel Osteen book, “I Declare 31 Promises To Speak Over Your Life”

I DECLARE God’s dream for my life is coming to pass. It will not be stopped by people, disappointments, or adversities. God has solutions to every problem I will ever face already lined up. The right people and the right breaks are in my future. I will fulfill my destiny. This is my declaration.

Today I am going to talk about being beautiful and having confidence. I have to always remember words have power and you have to ignore those thoughts that try to ruin you. People are always telling me to smile because I am beautiful. And, I also want to encourage those reading this to smile because you have to learn to love yourself and you will never go wrong. That’s what I am learning. I have to appreciate my flaws before I can get them fix. Even if I don’t feel pretty I cannot speak that into existence because then I will be ugly because I spoke that over my life. I had to realize that words I say are being prophesized into my future. You will eat the fruit of your words and you have to send your words out in the direction you want your life to go.

Beauty to me is more than just looks and confidence. Beauty is also personality, uniqueness, and intelligence.

I am beautiful because I know I was chosen and have a purpose to fulfill. I know the things I want out of life and what I want and I know I can get it. So today I am declaring life over everything I desire.

This is for the ones who feel like nobody and the ones who were abandoned.

Who I Am?

There was a plan in my pain.

I was once a victim of being bullied. Every single year in school and I was also the black sheep in my family. Mental abuse shattered my life. But I am healed now. I use to think life was worthless but I know I am not here by mistake. Why I felt worthless? When I felt worthless it was because I was teased so bad and done wrong by many. I cried and cried but now it all worked for my good. I look at the same people who judged me or talked about me and realize how bless I am. God saved me with his grace and by FAITH I am still here. I dreaded going to school every single day and I didn’t have any friends. I felt so alone. I always thought maybe something was wrong with me but I know it wasn’t me. I have an amazing talent that MANY are not blessed with. I am letting go of the pain because it’s more to me than what the eyes can see. Words truly do hurt especially when it comes from those closest to you.

But I have to realize people are stuck in their situations for a reason and I have to just keep looking above and thanking the ALL for all he has done for me. For keeping my mind. For reminding me that I have a purpose. I know I am unique in my own way. I always felt like I was different from others and maybe that’s why I was picked on so bad. It’s nothing wrong with me at all. I have so much passion for everything I do and Ive always kept myself together over the years even when I was abandoned.

Now I am on my way to who I am supposed to be and I am still being changed and I wouldn’t ask for it any kind of way. Compared to others I am winning.

Just like YOU, I have been talked about and mentally abused to the point where I would have rathered died but don’t give up. I have been where you at. Whether it’s friends, family, relationship issues, you will get through it. Just keep focus and I promise you will come out a survivor and a winner.

I am so far from perfect but I know I am not here by mistake.

Jana Nicole Pauldo

Ask yourself today, what are you grateful for?
